Brighton’s Glenn Murray, having returned from Bournemouth last summer, has said promotion to the Premier League with Albion would top his previous experience with Crystal Palace.

Murray scored a Championship record 30 goals during his promotion season with Crystal Palace four years ago – a serious knee injury in the play-off semi final win over Brighton meant he sat out the final though.

He told the Argus automatic promotion with Brighton would be ‘a career highlight.’

‘It would be very nice to go up automatically and it would probably top it. Touch wood, I haven`t been injured yet. Unfortunately, I got injured against Brighton in those play-offs, so I missed out on the final hurrah. If I was able to keep fully fit and go up automatically I suppose it would be a career highlight.’

Having scored 18 goals this season Murray’s once again been instrumental to Brighton’s promotion bid as he had been when he helped Albion to the League 1 title during his first spell with the club.

But for injury Murray’s former Crystal Palace teammate Dwight Gayle might have overtaken his Championship goals record as he’s bagged 21 for title rivals Newcastle.

Murray finished by revealing some friendly banter with both hopefully of helping their respective teams to automatic promotion, but the experienced striker is still looking to add plenty more goals to his collection.

‘We`ve had a few messages. They`ve all been nice and polite saying we want us both to go up. I am still out to get as many goals as I can.’
