Striker Glenn Murray has said that Brighton need to use the heavy loss to Liverpool at the weekend as another learning curve.

Hosting Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Amex Stadium Liverpool took a five one victory on the day and Brighton lost for the first time in five home matches.

With Murray getting the consolation on the day in the second half, he knew that at key moments the team had switched off and made some uncharacteristic errors.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

‘We knew what Liverpool were capable of and we made some naive mistakes this afternoon, that’s what you get when you come up against the big boys. Yes, things could have gone differently if my chance went in and even though it didn’t, we can’t let them go up and the other end and concede ten seconds later, that’s what I mean by naive mistakes. We’re disappointed but it’s all about how we come back from this now.’

Murray went on to say about the quality of the opposition that although they deserved praise, Brighton hadn’t quite reached the levels we know we can in the game so we have to shoulder that and make sure we are better next time.

‘They’ve got quality going forward, it’s all about stopping that then seeing what we can get off the back of that but we weren’t at our best today, we never really got going or got our foot on the ball. Credit to Liverpool, their high press killed us a little bit, it’s one to forget for us.’

With Huddersfield Town next week, Murray called on the side to show a reaction.

‘It’s one of those things that are going to happen to a newly-promoted Premier League club, you expect it to happen and it’s all about how we react now.’
