Brighton captain Bruno has said the team will no fear facing Manchester City as we kick off the Premier League campaign of 2017/18 this weekend.

Hosting Pep Guardiola’s side at the Amex Stadium as we kick off life in the top flight following promotion last year, Bruno’s message was simple – relishing the challenge the opposition would pose us because that is the kind of challenge we got promoted to experience.

Speaking to the Official Site Bruno explained.

‘We are positive and we are going to play to win the game. They have top players, but it is just 11 v 11 on the pitch and we need them to be uncomfortable. If they want to get something here, then they have to show their quality. If not, then we`re going to be ready to get the three points.’

A confident assessment already, but with it being a special day for the fans as they celebrate our top flight kick off, Bruno knows the backing and support will be there so why not believe we can cause an early upset and maybe nick something.

‘We know it`s going to be a special day because it`s the first Premier League game at the Amex, and the first Premier League game for the club. But it`s not a party for us and we need to win. It`s our first game at home and we know how important our home games are. They cannot feel comfortable, or feel like they can play their football. Every time one of their players goes towards goal, one of us needs to be next to them.’

Bruno also had words of praise and admiration for Guardiola given the way he believes in a particular style of play and sticks to it.

‘For me he is a brilliant manager because of his personality; he wants to play his football and doesn`t want to change. That shows a lot of personality and character. When you also have the players he has, that makes it a massive challenge for us. It`s going to be a tough game.’
