Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that he’s not planning on recalling James Wilson from his Brighton loan spell following the injury sustained by Wayne Rooney.

With it known that Rooney will be out for around the next six weeks with knee ligament damage, van Gaal was obviously asked about his options up front and Wilson came into the frame given his performances for us.

However their chief admitted that whilst eyes were being kept on their youngster, for this moment in time at least he was likely to lead with the possibilities offered by Will Keane and Anthony Martial.

Wilson has of course been out for a short while himself with illness and then a minor groin problem – missing Christmas and the last two fixtures – but it’s expected he will come back into manager Chris Hughton’s thoughts this weekend for Cardiff.

In eleven appearances so far, he has scored three times.

van Gaal is quoted as saying.

‘At this point I can call James Wilson back, but I have possibilities with Will Keane and Anthony Martial.’
