Bobby Zamora’s involvement in the Brighton starting XI will come when the time is right with sentiment playing no part in this.

Assistant boss Colin Calderwood, quoted by the Argus, knows the vast majority of Brighton fans at the Amex Stadium tonight would like to see Zamora start but he wasn’t giving too much away!

However, it was made clear he’ll only start when Albion boss Chris Hughton thinks ‘he’s ready’ to do so.

Zamora’s winning goal, from the bench, at Leeds might earn him a second full debut in front of the home crowd, which if he did start against Bristol City it’ll lift the atmosphere, as it has previously, but Calderwood stressed, and he’s right, this isn’t reason for him to start.

‘Certainly when he’s come on he’s had an influence. In one game especially it definitely lifted the atmosphere, because he got up and warmed up, but that wouldn’t be a reason to start him.

‘The obvious reasons would be his quality and when needed and required. The manager makes that decision. If he had to start and the manager wants him to I think he’s ready.

‘Bobby started away from home at Bolton. We’re going to get the upmost out of him – and we have got to be fair to the boys that have done well and started games.’

As already said this week it’s all about using Zamora in the right way.

I’m not sure if that goal will earn him a first start at home or not? But it wouldn’t have done those chances any harm would it.

We’ll find out soon enough!
