Brighton head to The Bescott Stadium knowing victory will crown them champions of Npower League One with 4 games to spare.

Their lead at the top is an impressive 16 points ahead of second placed Southampton. The Saints can only get a maximum of 92 points if they win all their remaining 6 games, including an Easter visit to Withdean. With Poyet’s men sitting pretty with 90 points, just 3 more points is enough to see them crowned as Champions.

The Seagulls have won an impressive 27 games in the league, more than any other team in the country, and one more victory on the road at 20th placed Walsall, will see the champagne corks being popped open again.

Walsall sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference, so will be fighting for their lives, but they have lost more at home than they have won, so the Brighton fans are expecting to see their team take the glory, shown by their sold out allocation of 2500 tickets.

Inigo Calderon will lead out the side at the ground where he made his Albion debut 18months ago, knowing victory will see him with a winners medal before he takes on Southampton, the club he nearly joined in the summer. It is a remarkable turn around for the Spaniard, who Gus Poyet said would never play for the club again, after appearing to move along the coast.

Should The Seagulls win the game, the likelihood is that there will be no trophy or cheque for £25,000 until Brighton’s home game the following Saturday at Withdean against Southampton.

Manager, Poyet has also challenged the team to finish the league with 100 points. They would need at least 10 more points from the 5 remaining games, with 105 points the maximum they can achieve.

Plans have also been put in place for an outdoor event for fans on the Sunday (8th May) after the Notts County game, should Brighton win the league.
