Portsmouth Confirm Brighton Friendly Later This Month

|

Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett has confirmed that his side will face Brighton and Hove Albion in a behind closed doors friendly later this month.

We will welcome them to our Amex Training Centre in Lancing on Tuesday, July 24 but I think it’ll be all eyes to the clubs’ social media feed as we have no kick-off time and we haven’t yet confirmed what kind of starting eleven we will give them a test with, so this game might pass without much fanfare at all.

It’s simply stated that it will take place in the morning on the day as Jackett is hoping he can send his first-team group to us, leaving a Portsmouth XI group to play in the day in their pre-arranged friendly against Bognor.

The Portsmouth News have him quoted as saying.

“We have a behind-closed-doors match on the same day as Bognor. We will see the make-up of the opposition when we get closer to the time but I would suggest our first-team will be going to Brighton in the morning and it will be a Portsmouth XI in the evening.”

We last faced Portsmouth back in pre-season of 2012 and we ran out as 5-1 winners.

Fans will note that the game has been set for the same day we face Charlton Athletic at The Valley so from our end it will either be youngsters or a split-squad I would think.
