Which, as we get towards the key and defining months of the season probably couldn’t have come at a better time for Brighton could it? Liam Rosenior is back in training with Gaetan Bong himself closing in on a return as both look to return from long-term setbacks to boost the Albion promotion push in the final months of the campaign.

Bong has been out since he suffered a ruptured thigh tendon in October, this saw Chris Hughton turn Rosenior to fill in at left back only for him to be sidelined since November due to knee ligament damage!

Hughton revealed the good news to the Argus today when he said.

‘Liam Rosenior trained for the first time today, which is a big plus for us, but he’s of course been out for a little while. We are hopeful that Gaetan will train on Sunday, so there are a few that are getting quite close.’

All of this, especially his thoughts on a few getting ‘quite close’ to returning, means the squad is starting to get stronger and that couldn’t be better timed as far as the left back position goes as the meeting with Bolton will be the final game of Liam Ridgewell’s loan from Portland Timbers.

This will mean Inigo Calderon fills in again until Rosenior, who should be the first to be match fit, is back with Hughton adding he expects captain Gordon Greer back from his hamstring injury next week, well at least he’ll be back in training next week.

It’s also been revealed U21 striker Daniel Akindayini, a 19-year-old who came in from Spurs last summer, has joined non-league side Margate on loan for a month.
