Gus Poyet and Elliott Bennett have missed out on the January awards for the nPower League One manager and player of the month.

Gus Poyet and Elliott Bennett have missed out on the January awards for the nPower League One manager and player of the month.

Both were shortlisted for the awards, but both were pipped to the accolade. Poyet was shortlisted alongside Lee Clark (Huddersfield Town), Keith Hill (Rochdale) and Terry Skiverton (Yeovil Town), with Keith Hill taking the honours for Rochdale’s 4 wins during January.

Bennett, who assisted 4 goals, as well as scoring against Peterborough was shortlisted with Craig Dawson (Rochdale), Liam Feeney (Bournemouth) and Paul Huntington (Yeovil Town).

Yeovil captain Paul Huntingdon took the award scoring 3 goals, and helping Yeovil to keep 4 clean sheets during the month.

The judges included Peter Beagrie and BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit.
