BRIGHTON manager Gus Poyet has been nominated for manager of the month for the second month in a row. Meanwhile Spanish right back, Inigo Calderon has been nominated for the players title.

Poyet, who won the award for September is in the running after Brighton surged into an 8 point lead at the top of the table, thrashing Charlton and Peterborough on the way.

He goes up against Nigel Adkins of Southampton, Andy Scott of Brentford and Alan Irvine of Sheffield Wednesday. Although Brighton are top of the league and playing well, Southampton picked up 12, the most points in the month by any club.

Brighton picked up 11 points with 3 wins and two draws and this is where right back Calderon made a name for himself. The adventurous defender scored 3 goals and was part of a defence unbeaten all month, keeping 4 clean sheets.

Calderon faces stiff competition from Paul Benson at Charlton, as well as Huddersfield Anthony Pilkington and Plymouth Argyles in form striker Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Brighton keeper, Casper Ankergren is the current holder of the player of the month title. The result will be announced on Thursday 11th November.
