Brighton’s end of season dip in form and results saw them narrowly miss out on the Championship title earlier today.

Going into today’s final fixtures of the 2016/17 campaign, Brighton held a one point advantage over Newcastle United at the top of the table but a late Aston Villa equaliser at Villa Park saw us end the campaign with a draw.

With Newcastle taking all three points from their tie against Barnsley, we end the campaign one point behind them and the title heads to St James’ Park.

A disappointing end to the campaign given how many points clear of Newcastle Brighton were a couple of weeks ago but promotion to the Premier League has long been secured and the title would’ve just been a great icing on the cake.

It certainly doesn’t under play how well Chris Hughton and the side have done this year though and that shouldn’t be forgotten and I’m sure it won’t be.
