Manager Chris Hughton has been holding his pre Stoke City press conference today and he’s confirmed that Brighton’s record signing Jurgen Locadia will be in the squad.
Locadia arrived at the club in January from PSV Eindhoven but he has spent the first few weeks of his life at the club on the sidelines as he recovered from a hamstring injury he picked up in December.
The player is fit for the trip to the Bet365 Stadium this weekend and although Hughton wouldn’t be drawn on whether he would start, the likelihood is he’ll take a place on the bench.
Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the press, Hughton explained.
‘He will be in the squad for Saturday, and he`s had a good week and a half of training. Some players can fit straight back into a side having been out through injury, and others can`t, but the most important thing for us is that he`s now fit and available.’
Adding.
‘It`s great to have him back in the squad – we accepted we took him with the injury but we brought him in because he`ll give us an offensive threat and he`s got a good record of scoring goals.’
The arrival of the Dutchman at the club bolsters our front ranks with Leo Ulloa also arriving from Leicester City and with Glenn Murray’s current goalscoring form, Hughton has a good selection headache upfront.
‘I knew I wanted to bring in further options in the attacking areas and I knew that would give me a selection headache. It`s a nice problem for me to have now and I have some difficult decisions to make.’
