It’s not going to be good news with Gaetan Bong is it? Still Brighton haven’t confirmed the full extend of his knee injury, and how long he’ll be sidelined, but the expectancy is he’ll be out for a ‘sustained period of time.

Liam Rosenior has already been earmarked as an option to full in for Bong by Chris Hughton, with the former Hull defender backed to fill in seamlessly at left back should he be turned to by an outside source too!

Speaking to the Argus former Hull defender Peter Swan, who knows Rosenior well and is also a radio commentator for them for the BBC, doesn’t feel playing the right back at left back would have any difference on his performances.

In fact you ‘would never know’ he wasn’t a natural left back.

‘You couldn’t tell the difference. He was a very similar player on the left or right.

‘As far as defending goes, he was excellent. It was never a problem going from the right to the left. Unless you studied him really closely you would never know he was mainly right foot, even when he played on the left.

‘Going forward it was not really a factor because he was never the best crosser of a ball from the right flank so you didn’t lose anything. The main thing is he is a good defender on both sides of the pitch.’

Hughton’s said he could use Rosenior or Inigo Calderon, which this weekend would seem the most likely option anyway? But we’ve also seen some Internet rumours, I’d noticed this on ‘Clubcall’ for what it’s worth, that West Brom full back Sebastien Pocognoli could be turned to on a ‘short-term loan deal until January.’

The Belgian defender made only 16 appearances for the Premier League side last season, he’s made only the one in the League Cup this season, and only one previously under Tony Pulis since he took charge at the Hawthorns, so isn’t in Pulis’ plans it he!

A loan move is something the 28-year-old, who can’t understand why he’s not getting a chance, is said to be ‘keen on’ should Hughton make a move?
