It’s being reported tonight that Brighton have secured the free signing of former Hull defender Liam Rosenior.

I say reported, the Argus have him photoed holding the shirt and they carry quotes from manager Chris Hughton so this isn’t exactly speculation! And it’s now on the official site.

The versatile 30 year old was released by Hull manager Steve Bruce this summer following their relegation from the Premier League, and joining us on a free, he has penned a three year deal.

Whilst predominantly a right back it seems, he can also equally play at left back and that is a position we are short in following the departure of on loan Aston Villa defender Joe Bennett.

Hughton is quoted as saying.

‘He’s a terrific professional, has a wealth of experience – which is something that is important for us – and during our negotiations showed a great desire to join us and be part of this club, despite some attractive options elsewhere. He’s played a lot of games in the Premier League, is an extremely versatile defender, and can play at left or right full back.’

Having been at Hull for the last five years, his competition Albion debut will be his 350th League appearance of his career.

No doubt they’ll be more on this signing tomorrow.
