Brighton have been linked with a bid for unsettled Preston North End striker, Paul Hayes.

Gus Poyet has publically stated that he is looking to add to the firepower of his table-topping Brighton side.

Paul Hayes of Preston North End is the latest name to be linked with a move to the South coast.

Hayes, 27, made his name with Scunthorpe scoring 60 goals for the Irons in 228 appearances.

The striker joined Preston on a three year deal in the summer but failed to settle, only scoring once this season.

Glenn Murray is Brighton’s leading goal scoring with 5, whilst Ashley Barnes is out of form and the other strikers not quite fitting the bill as yet.

David Healey of Sunderland has also been linked with The Seagulls as their search for a “20 goal striker” continues.
