For some the international break has come at ‘the right time’, even Brighton manager Chris Hughton said as much, but Dale Stephens says that it’s come at the wrong time for him.

After an injury impacted season, which only saw him make his return from nine-months out in recent weeks, he’s told the Official Website that he would have liked more games.

What’s more, and against what Hughton had said, he feels that his teammates would have wanted this too!

‘I`d like to play another game. The group is confident, and we`d like to play another Tuesday and Saturday, especially off the back of a good result. Personally I don`t want a break, I`ve had long enough out and I just want to play football.’

As for his ankle the 25-year-old says that it’s feeling good but he’s still got some gruelling work to do in the gym but knows that the payoff will be worth it as he’ll reap the benefits in the end, which ultimately means that Brighton will too.

His aim now is to play as much as he can, so as far as he’s concerned the sooner this break is over the better so he can continue to do this. If he keeps performing when selected then Hughton will find it hard to leave him out, and this is what he’s aiming for.

‘I told the gaffer I want to play in every minute of every game so hopefully I can push towards doing that.

‘I`ve got a lot of work to do in the gym but I need to do it if I want to carry on playing and I want to play in every game. My ankle is feeling good and hopefully we can continue our good form. ‘

With Norwich, Bournemouth, Watford and Middlesbrough, all promotion chasing sides, yet to be faced even though we’re now 10-points clear of the relegation zone following the win at Blackburn last Saturday he went onto add that he knows we’re not ‘resting on our laurels’ or assuming that we’re now assured our place in the Championship.

Things are looking good mind and as long as we continue to pick up points against those around us then it’ll ‘stand us in good stead.’
