With the release of the Championship fixtures yesterday, goalkeeper David Stockdale has said he can’t wait for the season to kick off properly now.

With a disappointing season behind us, everybody’s eyes are on a much better campaign and something more akin to the Play Off battles we’ve had in more recent years, and speaking to the Official Site Stockdale said that with the fixtures now known, it should give everyone a boost of fresh positivity for our hopes in the coming year.

‘I can`t wait; there are a couple of fixtures against two of my former clubs that I was looking out for this season, with one being Hull and the other being Fulham. We get them both early on and it makes everyone feel excited for another year and helps them forget what happened in the last 12 months. The optimism is revived again. I`m looking forward to the Fulham game and hopefully the result is the same as well. But any new fixture gives us renewed confidence and we`re always proud of the support we get away from home.’

With a home match against Nottingham Forest up first in the new league campaign, the 29 year old stopper went on to say that given the strength of a number of sides in the division he feels it’s going to be difficult to pick any favourites because it will depend on who can maintain their form as we certainly saw some changes at the end of last season in the fight at the top.

He’s expecting this year to be reasonably similar.

‘You never know which teams are going to do well as it always changes. There is always a team that does well which nobody expected and vice-versa. We were expected to do well last year and didn`t, but if we get ourselves ready in the best way we can then I`m sure that we can go into any game with a bit of renewed hope. The lads were a bit down last year about how we did, so we`re now really looking forward to the new season.’
