A ‘minor setback’ might have prevented Will Hoskins from getting another development outing on Monday but it didn’t stop Craig Mackail-Smith

The other Brighton striker battling back from a long term injury, which has of course kept him out for over a year as well, took his place in the starting XI that took on QPR at the Amex on Monday.

Mackail-Smith’s return to action at the Amex couldn’t quite be capped by a goal or a win, with QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley denying him in Albion’s 2-1 defeat, but the Scottish international did get a good 76 minutes.

It’s another appearance that takes him closer to a return for us and as much as he wants this he knows he’ll have to be patient for his chance to come and is happy to do this.
