I’d think, as I say, it’ll be a ‘surprise return’ if it happened but Shoot.co.uk report that Brighton are interested in making a move to bring Liam Bridcutt back to the Amex Stadium in the New Year?

Gus Poyet’s Chelsea connections brought Bridcutt to the club but he left Albion to sign for Sunderland almost two-years ago, he’s now back in the Championship on loan with Leeds but they’re not expected to sign him permanently.

Well, they couldn’t due to the ‘off-field issues’ by all accounts so if he’s available on a permanent basis they’ll miss out.

That would open the door to others, apparently Brighton among them, to ‘steal a march’ as they say!

Bridcutt’s exit, he was successful in his time with Albion and attracted a lot of topflight attention as he helped the club to the League 1 title and success in the Championship, didn’t come about in the best of ways really so (even though many will understand why he opted to follow Poyet to the Premier League and sign for Sunderland and wouldn’t begrudge him on that level) some might hold the manner of his exit against him.

We’ll find out in the coming weeks if Chris Hughton does have an interest in Bridcutt or not in any case! Which if he does, and he can help keep the promotion bid on track, if he produces the goods all would be forgotten!

As the reopening of the transfer window draws closer we’ll have more and more reports and rumours of interest in this and that player I’m sure….
