Brighton have seen the Championship fixtures with Forest, Ipswich and Fulham all changed, the Forest game will be shown live on Sky Sports too.

When Forest come to the Amex Stadium they’ll bring the Sky Sports cameras with them as well as it’s been decided that this should be the fixture that kicks-off the Championship season with this changed from Saturday to Friday 7th August with a 7:45pm kick-off.

On this decision chief executive Paul Barber commented on the Official Website.

‘It’s a great privilege and an honour to be chosen as the very first live TV game of the new season for the Football League and Premier League.

‘The visit of Nottingham Forest is always going to be a big game at any time of the season, and evokes memories of our end to the season two years ago with Leo Ulloa’s great goal.

‘Forest fans travel well, so we’re hoping for a full house here, and a Friday night game under the lights at the Amex in the summer months will be a special occasion.

‘So we anticipate people will turn out in great numbers and we’re looking forward to showing the country what this stadium looks like when it’s full and rocking.’

I hear what Barber’s saying but it’s a shame that the season doesn’t start with a Saturday afternoon 3pm kick-off, as you can’t beat a traditional Saturday afternoon slot can you!

The Christmas fixture when Ipswich come to the Amex Stadium has also been changed with that one moved back 24-hours to now be played on Tuesday 29th December, this will still kick-off at 7:45pm.

Finally, at this stage with more changes a near certainty, when Fulham also come to the Amex Stadium in April this will now be played on a Friday with it decided 15th April, at 7:45pm, would be the better date due to the Brighton Marathon taking place over that weekend.

We were, as I’ve said, reminded that further changes are likely….
