Brighton are in Capital One Cup action against Southend at Roots tonight, with this a 7:45pm kick-off.

Albion started with a positive win against Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Friday, and have had an extra days rest too, with Southend next up as the League Cup gets underway – we’ll hope it doesn’t end against Phil Brown’s side!

Brown will sense his Shrimpers side could upset the Seagulls under the lights in Essex thought I’m certain….

Southend could include Joe Pigott and David Worrall, who both played a part in the equaliser against Fleetwood on Saturday following Pigott’s return from Charlton after helping them into League 1 in last seasons play-off final in League 2.

They’ll come into this without any new injury concerns.

Albion boss Chris Hughton will make changes, he’s said as much ahead of this game.

This will include the likes of Niki Maenpaa and Liam Rosenior coming in, with Inigo Calderon, Jake Forster-Caskey, Rohan Ince and Chris O’Grady also expected to feature.

Bobby Zamora, at best, is expected on the bench with fellow summer signing Jack Harper (ankle) sitting out again with Andrew Crofts (knee) close to his first-team return after a long-term injury.

An incredible final four-minutes from the League Cup meeting in 2006 when five-goals were scored saw Southend win three-two! The omens favour an Albion win as the away side has won the last four-matches in all competitions.

The Seagulls will hope for a positive result to progress in the League Cup but will this happen?

Whatever the line up Hughton goes with expectancy will be high but ahead of the game we’re looking for your views on what way you think it will go, which obviously requires you to vote in the latest poll one of two ways….

Brighton win
Southend win

Not only do we want you to cast your vote, which you do to your right, we’re also looking for your thoughts and views too so do share some of those with your comments below.
