The Championship season continued with a few games played during midweek.

Brighton returned to the top of the Championship by winning their game in hand. The Reading and Leeds play-off bids were boosted but Nottingham Forest remain in relegation trouble.

Here’s a round up of the Championship action from the other games.

Tuesday 24th January 2017 – CHAMPIONSHIP
Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 Cardiff City 19:45
Reading 1-0 Fulham 20:00

Wednesday 25th January 2017 – CHAMPIONSHIP
Leeds United 2-0 Nottingham Forest 19:45

Tuesday’s game in hand saw Brighton return to the top of the Championship table. A 1-0 win – extending the run to just one defeat in the last 10 in the league – at the Amex Stadium against Cardiff took Albion two points above Newcastle. The Bluebirds’ first defeat in five – with the last three won – meant they stayed eight points clear of relegation trouble but missed the chance to move into the security of midtable.

Reading recovered from successive league defeats to record a 1-0 win over Fulham. The Royals’ win took them back up to 3rd – still some nine points off an automatic promotion place – ahead of Leeds’ game on the Wednesday – with the Cottagers missing the chance to move up to 7th and what would have been just two points off a play-off place.

Leeds recovered from a first defeat in seven to record a victory at Elland Road that took the Whites back into 3rd place and to within seven points off Newcastle. A 2-0 defeat was Nottingham Forest’s first loss in three – and first under caretaker Gary Brazil – meaning Forest remain five points above the relegation zone but missed a chance to move clear.
