Draws have become a familiar theme for Aston Villa with another one seen on Tuesday when Villa drew one-all at Barnsley.

After back-to-back league wins Blackburn’s run came to an end when Sheffield Wednesday went away from Ewood Park with the points after a one-nil win, a first away win of the season for Wednesday to move them towards the play-off places.

Brentford are within the play-of places with another impressive win seeing the bees up to fourth after a four-one win at Griffin Park against Reading, who slipped back to eighth following this defeat.

Another side on a good run of form were Leeds but with Bristol City having a fine season a one-nil win at Ashton Gate keeps Lee Johnson’s side going along very nicely and in firth place at the moment.

Huddersfield returned to the top of the table with a two-nil win over Rotherham, who remain in the bottom three with Wigan moving out of the bottom three after a two-one win over Wolves at the DW Stadium.

Despite parting company with Nigel Pearson ahead of the match with Chris Powell taking caretaker charge the former England international led Derby to a two-nil win at Cardiff, who are continuing to struggle this season.

An amazing finish to the match at St James’ Park on Wednesday saw Newcastle come from three-two down against Norwich deep into injury-time to eventually run out four-three winners against Norwich in a top of the table battle.
