Manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that Gaetan Bong will be out until the new year following injury.

Speaking to the Official Site in his pre game press conference, Hughton dealt with the injury blow to Bong in this piece.

The left back underwent surgery on a ruptured left thigh tendon yesterday, and he will now be out for 12 weeks having picked up the problem in our game against Preston North End last weekend.

‘Losing Gaetan is a big blow for us, as he has been excellent and an important part of our success, and it is a huge blow for him personally. However, he is a really strong character and I’ve no doubt he’ll come through that rehabilitation period and be back to full fitness for us in the New Year.’

Since coming to us from Wigan Athletic over the summer, the 27 year old has so far made 14 starting appearances for the club.

More pre game interviews will no doubt filter through shortly.

In other injury news, Hughton also confirmed that we would be without Kazenga LuaLua for he trip to Reading as the left winger continues to be missing with a groin injury. He has of course missed the last five.

“Kazenga will miss out. We are reasonably comfortable where he is at the moment but we just feel he needs a little more time.”

Skipper Gordon Greer and midfielder Dale Stephens are also major doubts for the trip to the Madejski.

Greer has missed the last two matches having come off with a knee injury, and Stephens picked up a thigh problem ahead of Preston.

“We’ll assess both of them tomorrow. Their training has been fairly sporadic and the work they’ve been able to do. Both hopefully will have a chance.”

Beram Kayal returns from suspension though, and Jake Forster-Caskey comes back into thoughts following the end of his loan spell with MK Dons.

20 year old Aaron Tshibola is also potentially out until the new year with an ankle injury of his own.
