Christian Walton’s a ‘keeper that should have a big future in the game, and you can see why Premier League clubs had shown an interest in him 12-months back, hopefully at the Amex Stadium.

Walton got a few games for us last season but has told the Argus that he’s looking for more first-team involvement and as much as he’ll want this with us he feels a loan spell would benefit him.

His development will only be benefited if he plays regularly.

‘Hopefully next season I’ll get some more game time, whether it’s at Brighton or out on loan at a good club.

‘There is only a certain amount of sitting on the bench you can do at a young age.

‘The only way you are going to learn is by playing games week in and week out, so I think getting a loan move would be really beneficial to me. Hopefully it will help me in the long run.’

Chris Hughton’s keen to give the England U20 international this first-team chance but this would be away from the Amex Stadium with another experienced ‘keeper, to challenge David Stockdale, sought.

This could be Niki Maenpaa with reports continuing to link us with the VVV-Venlo ‘keeper, who becomes a free agent at the end of next month but Nottingham Forest are also being linked with the Finnish international.
