Young goalkeeper Christian Walton has been recalled from his loan spell out with Luton Town, but Rohan Ince heads out for a loan spell with Swindon Town.

21 year old goalkeeper Walton has been recalled as a precautionary measure following the shoulder injury sustained by Niki Maenpaa in last weekend’s FA Cup defeat to Lincoln City.

The player comes back to provide back up to David Stockdale.

Speaking to the Official Site to explain his thoughts, manager Chris Hughton explained.

‘While Niki’s injury is not as bad as we first feared, he will be sidelined for a short period of time, and during his period of rehabilitation we will need goalkeeping cover for David Stockdale. Christian has been playing regularly at Luton Town and has really benefitted from his time there; ideally he would have continued, but he is now needed back here to ensure we have proper cover in the goalkeeping position.’

Walton comes back having played 33 times for Luton so far this campaign, with a further four senior appearances for Brighton and his ten games whilst out at Bury and Plymouth Argyle so he’s developing nicely.

Ince heads in the opposition direction and will take in the rest of the campaign with League One side Swindon Town. He passed his medical earlier today and is in line to debut when they face Oxford United on Sunday.

Hughton explained that with game time limited it’s a good opportunity for him to get good match minutes under his belt.

‘Rohan has again found his chances limited this season, so this move gives him the opportunity to play football under a coach he knows well. Despite the lack of opportunities, he has been really professional, worked hard in training, and this loan is a good one for all three parties, the player and both clubs.’
