Brighton have now confirmed that capture of Belgian international left back, and West Bromwich Albion player, Sebastien Pocognoli.

There was heavy speculation yesterday that a loan deal was on the verge of being sorted, and early this morning Brighton confirmed that speculation by announcing the capture of the 29 year old.

He comes in from West Brom on a season long loan spell and he completed the paperwork late last night.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Chris Hughton said of our new addition.

‘We are delighted to add Sebastien to our squad, as the injury to Liam has left us a little bit short of cover in both full-back positions. Sebastien has a vast amount of experience having played in some of the top divisions in Europe, as well as in the Champions League. He is the type of quality player we want to add to the squad, and we are looking forward to working with him.’

Having began his career at Standard Liege, he made the move to Genk aged 15 and made his first team debut a year later, making a total of 46 appearances for the club before he moved to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

70 appearances and five goals later for them, he returned to Liege, making a further 98 appearances, scoring twice.

He then headed to the Bundesliga and Hannover 96 before making the move to the Premier League in the summer of 2014. His spell at West Bromwich hasn’t been great to be fair, but he does have eleven senior caps for Belgium.
