Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest have joined the race to tempt Brighton midfielder, Liam Bridcutt away from the League One leaders.

Bridcutt, who was signed on a free transfer at the start of the season, is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to look at other options.

He was released by Chelsea at the end of last season, before spending a few months struggling to find a club. Poyet then snapped him up after the horrific injury sustained by Alan Navarro.

The initial deal was for 3 months, but Bridcutt impressed greatley and was duly rewarded with a contract until the end of the season.

Since then Bridcutt has gone from strength to strength with a series of influential displays, the latest in the home victory against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, which caught the eye of a host of Championship clubs including Wigan and Nottingham Forest.

Bridcutt is looking to stay at the Albion, as the team play a style of football the suits him greatly.
