Brighton are being linked with Sheffield United’s Jamie Murphy and NEC Nijmegen’s Alireza Jahanbakhsh. The level of interest in these wingers differs based on where you read these reports but both would command a fee of £1m or more.

HITC Sport has reported that they’ve got ‘sources close to the club’ that inform them that we’ve put in a bid for Murphy, who could set us back £1m but Sheffield United aren’t looking to sell.

As for Jahanbakhsh an offer of £1.4m has reportedly not only been made but it’s also been accepted with the Argus ‘revealing’ that we’ve already had talks with the 21-year-old winger about a move to the Amex Stadium but Spartak Moscow, Norwich and Celtic are among those interested too.

I can’t say that I know anything about the Iran international but I do know a fair amount about Murphy, he’s delivered consistently for Sheffield United since signing from Motherwell and I feel he would make the step up more seamlessly.

Could our first signing come soon, maybe it’ll be one or both of these?
