Bobby Zamora’s goal, the winning one against Blackburn on Saturday, saw him move up to fifth on the all-time goalscoring list of Brighton goalscorers with his 82nd-goal during his two spells with the club.

As much as the 35-year-old was happy to get that goal to move past Peter Ward the three-points towards the promotion push was more important for him with the points on the board meaning more and ultimately what he felt is the priority.

The form has been poor of late but with ‘plenty of twists and turns’ to go Zamora told the Official Website this wasn’t a run Albion could go on ‘forever.’

‘There’s a long way to go and still plenty of twists and turns along the way from everybody in the division, but it’s an important three points. We knew that the run couldn’t continue forever. There are always going to be blips along the way; that seems to be our blip and it’s all about having the character to come back. We pulled up our sleeves and it wasn’t a pretty game. They didn’t make it easy, they’re a team that works hard and they made it hard for us too. But we matched them and got the result we wanted.’

You had to go back to Boxing Day for the last cleansheet with him adding this cleansheet against Blackburn just goes to show the importance of a solid defence with him crediting his teammates.

Chris Hughton hasn’t always had Zamora as a starting but the veteran is now looking for a regular place in the starting XI, finishing by saying.

‘That’s the plan (to start more games), but the manager is in charge, he picks the team and whoever he chooses is fine by me.’
