Albion are closing in on deals for two midfielders, Kazenga Lua Lua and former Chelsea holding midfielder Michael Woods.

Lua Lua wowed Albion fans during two successful loan spells before a broken ankle sustained after a challenge from Hartlepool midfielder Andy Monkhouse all but ended his season in November last year. Lua Lua did however come off the bench for Newcastle against Chelsea in the final game of the season and with his first touch skinned Branislav Ivanovic who was left in the wake of Kazenga`s raw pace, the lad has potential, bags of it.
Any fee for Kazenga is likely to smash the Seagulls previous transfer record set only a week or so ago when Will Buckley joined from Watford. The fee is being touted by various sources as anywhere between 1.2 to 1.5 million pounds. Lua Lua has a traction engine of a right boot and seemed to be finding his aim before the ankle break occurred scoring 5 goals in 10 games, all from range.
Michael Woods is also a very interesting proposition. The former Leeds and Chelsea youth midfielder player is best played as a defensive midfielder in a similar role to Liam Bridcutt who, of course is also out of Chelsea youth ranks. Woods spent the remainder of last season on loan at Notts County and has attracted the interest of several Championship teams since he became a free agent. It does appear however that Poyet and co have won the race for his signature.
