Kazenga LuaLua came off the bench to rescue a point for his side as Albion endured a frustrating night at the Amex.

Millwall led twice, and looked to be heading home with all 3 points before sub LuaLua grabbed a late equaliser with a thumping free-kick.

Poyet opted for an unfamiliar 4-3-3 formation, with Jara-Reyes playing alongside Navarro in Bridcutt in midfield, and Albion subsequently failed to take control like they had in recent matches.

It was a disjointed display, with few moments of genuine quality, and a hungry, robust Millwall side seemed eager to punish any lapses in the Albion defence.

The opening goal duly arrived after Brezovan and then Navarro failed to sufficiently clear a Lions corner, with the ball landing for Andy Keogh to prod home. It was his second goal in two visits to the Amex, having already scored for Leeds earlier in the season.

Millwall, with a lead to sit on, defended doggedly as Albion searched for a way back into the game. The home side eventually levelled matters early in the second half when Sam Vokes, one of very few bright sparks, met Navarro’s deflected shot and placed the ball into a gaping net to claim his first goal for the club.

Albion then pushed forwards in search of a winner, but to no avail, as it was Millwall who once again took the lead. Andy Keogh drove a dangerous ball across the face of the Albion goal, evading Brezovan, and Liam Feeney nicked ahead of Mattock at the back post to fire home.

Poyet introduced three attacking players during the final stages, and although it appeared that Albion were on their way to a disheartening defeat, Kazenga LuaLua managed to salvage a point for Poyet’s men in the 88th minute.

A free-kick was awarded just outside the Millwall box, and LuaLua stepped up to smash a daisy-cutter past Forde. The Lions keeper will feel he should have done better, failing to judge the power and swerve on the shot.

LuaLua then proceeded to delight the Amex crowd with his trademark somersault celebration whilst more importantly maintaining Albion’s unbeaten run in 2012.
