The Argus are reporting that Albion are set to complete the signing of Man City duo Abdul Razak and Gai Assulin on loan until the end of the season.

Abdul Razak is an Ivorian box-to-box midfielder said to be in a similar mould to his City teammate and fellow compatriot Yaya Toure. A type of player Albion do not currently possess.

Israeli youngster Gai Assulin is an attacking midfielder/winger who came through Barcelona’s youth set-up. He was due to join Barnsley on loan in November, but the deal fell through due to injury.

A deal is set to go through now the African Cup of Nations is over, with City’s first team squad returning to full-strength.

Poyet, speaking to the Argus about Razak, says, ‘We were waiting. We were very close at the beginning of January. The African Cup didn’t help us at all but I hope that everything is going to go through and we can do it today.’

‘We were following him when he went on loan to Portsmouth. He has the type of characteristics of a midfielder that I want to bring, the strength, the power, the technical ability, box to box, so he has plenty of things we don’t have.’

Albion are set to complete the deal either later today or tomorrow.
