Albion duo Gus Poyet and Will Buckley missed out on the January Football League awards for manager and player of the month, respectively.
They were instead awarded to Birmingham’s Chris Hughton & Curtis Davies. City were the only team to pick up more points than Albion during January, although they did play a game extra.
Despite Poyet and his men emphatically disproving the supposed ‘curse’ of the monthly award last season, I think it’s time we revert back to believing the pair have made a lucky escape.
