Brighton captain Dean Hammond is confident the Seagulls can pick up three points against Carlisle this Saturday.

Albion are on an unfamiliar run of form having lost just once in thirteen games in all competitions, with the one defeat coming against Leeds United which there’s no shame in. However our opponents are the only side to have beaten United in League One this season and once again are performing well in the league and current lie in 1st place.

Speaking to The Argus, Hammond said:

‘It’s another big game like Orient last Saturday. It’s a top-of-the-table clash.

‘It’s where we want to be, challenging, and we want to play the bigger teams in the league. We look forward to it with a lot of confidence. I don’t think we fear anyone at the moment.’

‘We’ve progressed massively. The boys have experienced a whole season and they have now come through this year.

‘We’ve added experience in Fozzy (Nicky Forster), who is looking really sharp now and has obviously adapted to the way we play.

‘We’re looking really good. We look solid as a team, we’re playing some good stuff and we’re creating some good chances so we look strong.’

Certainly the football being played this season by us is different to a number of sides in this league. Very rarely do you see a side in the third tier move the ball around on the ground tidily for long amounts of time like we did against Cheltenham last night.

But as we’ve said before it’s all well and good playing this kind of football providing we take our chances which we don’t seem to be doing all the time. Due to this we are allowing teams who are often on the back foot to get back into games like The Robins did last night even when they looked unlikely to.

One thing for sure though is that there is renewed confidence in the players from the fans and the longer we play with this spirit and ability, the more we’ll start to believe a play-off spot is possible.
