29-Year-Old Striker Reportedly Close To Reading Move (Confirmed)

|

With speculation building surrounding a possible move for striker Sam Baldock to Championship side Reading, the rumour mill kicked into a higher gear yesterday evening with suggestions that a deal was now incredibly close to coming off.

Sky Sports ran one of their ‘understands’ pieces saying that a fee had now been agreed between both clubs for the permanent transfer of the former Bristol City man and that he was now pencilled in for a medical with the Madejski Stadium outfit at some point later this morning.

All that would be left then is personal terms.

If, as expected, the 29-year-old does depart the Amex Stadium he would leave with 94 appearances to his name and a return of 20 goals following his arrival back in August 2014 and with significant strengthening this, and last summer following promotion into the Premier League, he has found game time severely limited.

His part in our rise will be remembered though, even if he’d have wished he was slightly more productive in the top end of the pitch in terms of goals.

I doubt there are many who wouldn’t wish him well for the future.

Update:

Later in the evening his transfer was confirmed officially so his medical took place quicker than originally anticipated.
