This isn’t something for Brighton to fear though, this possible interest in players that is expected in the New Year is though to be aimed at the Albion youngsters who would benefit from loans.

A one-nil win against Leyton Orient last week saw the Brighton U23 side into the second round of the EFL Trophy with this seeing a meeting with Wimbledon and another chance for the youngsters to impress.

Development boss Simon Rusk has told the Argus that win again proved what these players can do and how they could make an impact if they went on loan to a Football League club.

‘I`d like to think that two or three of our youngsters at least proved (on Tuesday) they could go and have an impact in a League Two side and hold their own place.’

Christian Walton (Luton), Tom Dallison (Cambridge) and Jordan Maguire-Drew (Dagenham) are currently out on loan with professional clubs with Rusk revealing interest in some having already been shown.

‘It`s another opportunity for other clubs to have a look at players in a competitive environment. We have had a couple from the last game or two where people expressed an interest.’
