Brighton’s youngsters were cruelly dumped out of the cup at Lancing last night by Premiership Cardiff City. In an amazing game which saw the Seagulls take the lead three times, they were eventually beaten in the last minute of extra time 4-3.

Solly March put the Albion 1-0 up in the 23rd minute but they could only hold onto the lead for 5 minutes, when Cardiff’s Healy pulled them level.
Albion again took the lead in the 59 minute through George Barker and looked set to meet Chelsea in the next round, however in the 89th minute Kiss again brought the sides level.

To their credit Brighton dug in during extra time and felt sure they had one the game when Harris put them 3-2 ahead and they reached the final minute of extra time; unbelievably lightening not only struck twice but three times, with o’Sullivan making it 3-3 in the 120 minute and Healy getting his second three minutes into added time to send the Welshmen home Jubilant.

This was a real kick in the teeth for a Brighton side that didn’t play any first team regulars and they will now have to lick their wounds and get ready for their next league game.
