Former Barcelona Man Rejects Fulham, Door Opens For Possible Brighton Deal

|

It’s being reported that Brighton and Hove Albion have now potentially stolen a march in the chase for Valencia fullback Martin Montoya.

The rumour mill had the player as being subject to heavy interest from Fulham but the Daily Mail are one of a number to report that he has now rejected a move to Craven Cottage and the field is wide open for Brighton to seal a deal with the 27-year-old.

Montoya is a right back by trade and would provide further competition for Ezequiel Schelotto and Bruno in our backline.

The Mail actually state that part of his decision to reject Fulham was based on talks held with manager Chris Hughton and he convinced him that making the switch to the Amex would be in his best interests so that’s quite a coup if true.

He would become our tenth senior capture of the summer unless I’ve lost count again, and by implication, he’s in talks with the club now and presumably undergoing a medical.

No fee is suggested at this stage.
