Rohan Ince has said he has been very pleased with how this season has gone for him so far, and he believes there is far more to come from him as he continues to develop in the first team.

Speaking to the Official Site the 21 year old said that the change in fortunes for him this year, given he was turning out for our U21 side last season following his release from Chelsea, has been quite remarkable for him, and although he’s pleased with his form over the 18 games he’s played so far, he knows he has a lot of work left to do, so his improvement should be gradual and he’s looking to do even better in the coming months.

‘This is my first season with the first team so I know this is only the start really. I’ve obviously been pleased with the progress I’ve made and I’ve enjoyed playing in the Championship, but I don’t take anything for granted. I’ve got a lot to learn but I couldn’t be at a better place to develop my career.’

Ince says that being surrounded by quality on the training pitch can only help him become a better player, and the seniors are always willing to give advice and answer questions, but of course the best way to develop is in games themselves because it’s a constant battle to be better than your opponent.

Of course there is a family connection for Ince, as his Uncle, Eric Young, was a firm favourite at the club back in the 80’s and the older fans will certainly remember ‘Ninja’ (although I should say some of us are a bit too young to!) and when Ince did get released by Chelsea and there was an interest in him from Brighton, Eric couldn’t have given a more glowing reference given his time with us.

Given his development so far Ince has been rewarded with a new long term this month as well in recognition of how he has kicked on this season, and how important a player he has become for the gaffer Oscar Garcia, and pleasingly should anybody have been looking at him, knowing he is contracted to us now until the summer of 2016 should put them off and we can get the benefit of his continuing improvement.
