Buckley Close To Return

Brighton could have Will Buckley back in the squad for this weekends FA cup fourth round meeting with Port Vale as he closes in on a return from a hamstring problem.

Sunderland starting showing an interest in the winger just at the time he was sidelined, so that saw the interest from Gus Poyet cooled. Liam Bridcutt remains a target for his former manager and with Buckley close to full fitness again a double reunion could be plotted again before the end of the month.

Oscar isn’t likely to risk Buckley from the beginning against Port Vale on Saturday, if he’s fit enough to be involved, and even though we’re a little short in the wide areas at the moment that wouldn’t be the worse decision to make.

It’ll also give Solly March another chance, which I think he’ll go with anyway, after he made his full debut against Reading in the last round and proved the star of the show.

Talking of wingers, new signing Jeffrey Monakana is expected to make his Albion debut tonight for the U21 side in the Sussex Senior Cup against Eastbourne.

It’ll be the first outing that he’s had for us since his recent signing from Preston.
