Unsurprisingly Nathan Jones looks set to remain in caretaker charge of Brighton for at least one more Championship game.

Jones was the caretaker for our two-two comeback draw with Reading at the Amex Stadium on Boxing Day with chief executive Paul Barber confirming to the official website that Jones looks set to continue for the trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Monday too.

Barber and chairman Tony Bloom have ‘begun meeting with potential candidates over the Christmas period.’

For however long Jones is asked to do the job he’ll do it and will be proud to do so, simply telling the official website that he’s not looking any further ahead than Monday though at this stage.

He said: ‘I was asked to take the team for one game which is what I have done, and I hope that the job that I have done is something of which the club will be proud.

‘I am not looking any further than that. My family are down for Christmas and I will spend a little time with them this evening before starting to prepare for the next game on Monday.’

Barber has told BBC Sussex that Jones is ‘being considered’ for the full time post.

He said: ‘It’s absolutely right we’d consider him as part of the process and we have told him that.

‘At the same time his immediate focus is preparing the team for Fulham.’

Karl Robinson was one of those linked with the job but he’s confirmed to BBC Three Counties that he’ll be staying with MK Dons.
