Brighton manager Gus Poyet has offered a trial to Luc-Cristoph Matutu after the 20-year-old was released by Frencg side Nantes in the summer.

Matutu, who also played for German side, Wolfsburg, is in the reserve squad tonight as they take on Wycombe Wanderers at Woodside Road (kick off 7pm). Poyet will see him as potential cover at left back following the departure of Jim McNulty to Scunthorpe on loan until January.

Assistant manager Mauricio Taricco is currently the left back cover, despite being right footed and not playing competitive football for over five years. Adam El Abd covered the problematic position last season, but he is currently playing well in his natural position at centre back.

Ghana-born Matutu will hope to offer a good balance to the defence with his left foot, should Marcos Painter get injured or suspended, as well as adding yet another nationality to the already very cosmopolitan squad.
