Slovakian stopper Peter Brezovan saved a penalty in his first match back since suffering a broken wrist.

The keeper, who snapped his wrist during training, was inbetween the sticks for Albion’s reserve team run-out against Wycombe yesterday.

He was booked for bringing down Nathan Olukanmi but got up to save the resulting Stuart Green spot kick.

One, or both, of Michael Poke and Mitch Walker could now be loaned out – leaving Brezovan and Casper Ankegren to fight it out for the Number One slot.

Elsewhere, young starlet Lewis Dunk managed 45 minutes one-time Aston Villa prospect Ryan Simmonds played left midfield.

Ghana-born left-back Luc Matutu missed out on a run-out after failing to get clearance in time.

The fact the Albion now have a player who needs international clearance to play for the reserves is quite possibly the most exciting thing to happen in years.
