Doncaster Rovers were founded in 1879 by Albert Jenkins, a railway worker, in response to the growing popularity of the game in nearby Sheffield.
The team have a variety of nicknames including Donny, Rovers and The Vikings.
After provisionally playing home games at Bell Vue and remaining there for over 100 years the club moved to the impressive Keepmoat stadium on New Years Day this year.
Doncaster have spent most of their time in the lower leagues but have managed to create a number of records over the years. They are the only team to have won the basement league on 3 occasions in 1965/66, 1968/69 and 2003/04. The club also won division 3 north on three occasions in 1934/35, 1946/47 and 1949/50.
They hold the record for the most league wins in a season, claiming 33 victories in 1946/47 but they also have the record for the highest number of defeats when they were beaten 34 times in 1997/98. Rovers finished bottom of the 3rd division that season, 1 place above the Albion and were relegated to the conference for the first time in their history.
Thankfully, 5 years later, Doncaster returned to the football league when they won the conference play off in 2002/03, the next season saw them promoted again when, as previously mentioned, they were crowned champions of Division 3.
Although not really renown for their cup exploits, Donny enjoyed a great cup run in 2005/06 when they reached the quarterfinals of the Carling Cup beating Manchester City and Aston Villa along the way before narrowly going out to Arsenal on penalties.
Although the two teams meet in a potential promotion showdown tomorrow night, Brighton and Hove Albion will always have a good relationship with Doncaster as it was the Rovers who provided the opposition in the last ever game played at the sacred Goldstone Ground in 1997. The Seagulls won 1-0 in a hugely important match, which contributed in a big way to their survival that year.
Last season saw Donny finish a respectable 11th in league 1 under ex Bournemouth manager Sean O`Driscoll and they will be hoping for an even better showing this time round.
With the team currently perched in 6th place, it is very much going to plan for Doncaster so far.

Player to watch
Definitely Mark Mccammon if he plays, ex-Albion strikers have a habit of scoring against us, other than that, James Hayter.

Vital Brighton Prediction
Doncaster 1 Brighton 1
