Brighton and Hove Albion kept alive their hopes of avoiding the drop to league 2 after a 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Hereford in front of a crowd of 2033.

It was a thoroughly deserved win by the dominant seagulls who responded brilliantly to critisism after recent poor performances and the scoreline even ended up flattering Hereford, who were never really in the game and now look doomed.

Midfielder Tommy Fraser got the away side off to a great start on 9 minutes when his scissors kick gave them the lead.

Despite sustained pressure, the Seagulls could not add to the tally and it was not until 75 minutes when Lloyd Owusu effectively ended the contest by firing home after being put through by the returning Gary Hart.

The Bulls managed a late consolation when Kris Taylor scored after Albion keeper Michel Kuipers had initially saved Steve Guinnans penalty.

The win leaves them 5 points adrift of safety with a game in hand. A further 3 points in Saturdays Withdean encounter with lowly Swindon could see the gap being reduced further.
