TRIBUTES have been flooding in from Brighton fans to A-list celebrities after the death of Sir Norman Wisdom was announced by his son last night (4th October 2010).

Wisdom, famed for his slapstick roles in the 50’s and 60’s, was a Director at Brighton & Hove Albion between 1964 and 1970. His fondness for The Albion became well known amungst Albanians, where Wisdom was a cult hero, and he paraded himself in full kit before the Albania vs England match in 2001.

He died peacefully in his sleep in a nursing home on the Isle of Man after suffering a series of strokes over the last 6 months. He died at the age of 95, leaving many fond and happy memories to those who saw him in action.

Wisdom famously re-wrote the lyrics to Brighton and Hove Albion’s anthem, Sussex by the Sea, and was regularly on the pitch at The Goldstone Ground singing it and whipping the crowd into a frezy before kick off.
