Christian Walton’s latest loan spell has come to an end with the ‘keeper returning to Brighton.

Walton, who was a former youngster with Plymouth, returned to Argyle in November for another spell away from Albion after a brief loan with Bury to start the season, which was ended before it really got started by injury.

Plymouth turned to the 20-year-old when no.1 Luke McCormick picked up a groin injury with him playing four-matches until he returned to fitness last month to regain his place leaving Walton to play second fiddle to him in the last four-matches.

Argyle boss Derek Adams told Plymouth Evening Herald.

‘Christian Walton will return to Brighton. His loan deal is up. It was great that a Plymouth boy has been able to come back. He got a transfer to a very good club in Brighton. Christian has done well for us in the games that he has played. We are delighted that Chris Hughton gave us permission to have him.’

It was good for Walton, who needed this, to get some first-team football but he needs more so the expectancy will be that he’ll head out on loan once more soon enough and this time to a club where it’ll be anticipated he’ll (not that you should ever be ‘assured of this’) be given the chance to play week-in-week-out.
