Keith Andrews and Inigo Calderon haven’t been put off by Brighton’s play off failure as the thirty something’s both see their futures at the Amex next season.
Andrews still has another year on his contract with Bolton but after spending the season on loan with us he’s interested in making this a permanent arrangement as he enjoyed his spell with the club.
Talks will take place between himself and Bolton manager Dougie Freedman to decide his future with them but another factor to take into account though is that Oscar, the man who brought the 33 year old to the club, isn’t the head coach anymore so the next manager (or head coach) might not feel the same way?
I’d not be disappointed to have the experience of Andrews in our squad again next season.
Another promotion push is already something that Calderon has expressed views on, with it being third time lucky, but he’s also hoping that his career with Albion doesn’t end this summer when his contract expires.
He’s told the Argus that he knows it’s the clubs decision to make though.
After four and a half years with Albion the Spaniard isn’t in a hurry to leave the club mind and hopes that not only he, but many of the other out of contract players, are given the chance to stay and continue the job started under Oscar to be fair continued under Oscar but started under Gus Poyet.
Calderon admits that he hasn’t played as much as he wanted but if the 32 year old is happy to stay he’s another with the experience that I think would be worth keeping in the squad with him still good enough to hold down a first team place.
