For the first time since November 2008 Brighton and Hove Albion recorded back to back wins and kept their survival hopes alive with a resounding 3-1 win against Oldham Athletic at the Withdean in front of a crowd of 6618 on Saturday.
First half goals from Dean Cox and Lloyd Owusu gave the rejuevanated Seagulls a commanding and deserved first half lead.
As the Swindon game the previous week though, they made a shaky start to the second half and it wasn’t too long until Lewis Alessandra reduced the arrears.
Lloyd Owusu restored the Sussex sides 2 goal cushion 2 minutes later however with a well taken finish..after that, the result was never really in doubt.
The game saw long serving striker Gary Hart making his 350th appearance in an Albion shirt and his re-emmergance has been a significant factor in the recent improvement in form.
The only downside for the Albion was the unfortunate sending off of player of the season candidate Andy Whing for a 2nd bookable offence. He will now miss tomorrow nights key match at Bristol Rovers, a match which could see them climb out of the relegation zone if they were to win it.
